Ministerial Moves


Don Bazal accepted a call as pastor of The Rock Baptist Church in Rex and began serving Jan. 2. He is joined by his wife, Kaye.

Bazal has a bachelor of theology degree from Florida Baptist Theological College, master of divinity degree from New Orleans Seminary and is currently pursuing a doctor of ministry degree with Luther Rice Seminary.

Throughout the past 14 years Bazal has served as pastor at Eastside Baptist Church in Claxton and First Baptist Church in Colquitt, as well as serving as adjunct professor of Old Testament at The Baptist College of Florida. Currently, he serves on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Baptist Convention.


Jeff Clegg was called as senior pastor at Park Place Baptist Church in Snellville. His first Sunday was Jan. 2. He is joined by his wife, Amy, and their sons, Mitchell and Zachary.


Leonard Dupree, retired specialist with Church Minister Relations of the Georgia Baptist Convention, was called as transitional interim pastor of Lincolnton Baptist Church and began his ministry Jan. 30.


Northside Baptist Church in Valdosta called Ken Hipsley as associate pastor/preschool and children effective Dec. 15. Hipsley comes to the church from serving in a similar position in Greensboro, NC and has served churches in Florida, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

He is a graduate of Liberty Baptist College in Lynchburg, Va. He is joined by his wife, Sharon, and their four daughters, Tiffany, Christina, Allison and Crystal.


Jack Kennington accepted a call as associate pastor at Belmont Baptist Church in Calhoun and began serving Dec. 1. He is joined by his wife, April, and their three children, Rob, Zachary and Keris. Jeff Hawkins is pastor.

Kennington is a graduate of Berry College in Rome and has completed partial work on his master of ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary.

After working for Chick-fil-A for about 20 years, 13 of those as an owner/operator, Kennington was called into ministry under the preaching of Steve Gaines, pastor of First Baptist Church Garndendale in Birmingham, Ala. Previously he served as minister of education at churches in Arkansas and Texas.


Ebenezer Baptist Church in Dacula called Jeff Parmer as senior pastor. He began his ministry Jan. 2.


Bobby Waynick accepted a call as pastor of Reno Baptist Church in Cairo as of Oct. 31. Waynick is a graduate of The Baptist College of Florida. He is joined by his wife, Ronda.
