Ministerial Moves


Chicopee Baptist Church in Gainesville called Phil Carpenter as pastor. He is joined by his wife, Patsy.


L. Lane Collins accepted a call to serve as senior pastor at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Cary beginning Oct. 2. Collins previously served as student minister at Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church in Macon for more than three years. He is joined by his wife, Julie, and their two sons, Garrett and Brantley.


Scotty Davis has resigned as pastor at King Spring Baptist Church in Noonday Association to accept a call to full-time mission work.

His last day at the church was Oct. 30. The church since called James Auton of Hinesville as pastor.


Ebenezer Baptist Church in Toccoa called Wade Fields as minister of students effective Sept. 12.


Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Snellville called Jeff Gongwer as pastor Nov. 6. He will begin at the church in December. Gongwer is joined by his wife, Sheri, and two sons.


James Hilburn was called as pastor at Beulah Baptist Church in Cedar Springs on Oct. 9.


Jamey Hunt recently accepted the pastorate at Riverview Baptist Church in Calhoun.

Previously, he served as pastor at Vienna First Baptist Church for more than four years.


Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Blakely recently called Doug Slater as pastor.


Emmanuel Baptist Church in La Fayette called C.F. Strickland as pastor effective Oct. 16.


Barry Walls resigned as pastor at New Prospect Baptist Church in Chickamauga. His last Sunday was Oct. 16.


R.C. Watson is retiring on Jan. 1, 2006 after 30 years as pastor at Sunset Hills Baptist Church in Douglasville. The church subsequently called Stephen Williams of Boone, N.C. as pastor.
