As I read the front page article in last week’s Christian Index about Terry Moncrief and the Techwood Baptist Center being renamed for him, I was taken back to the late 1980’s and Terry’s impact on my life.
In the throes of a mid-life crisis, with my life totally out of control, I was visited at work one day by Terry. We sat in the company conference room for most of that afternoon, talking and praying, and it was Terry’s love, concern, and prayers that brought me out of the crisis I was in. I’d come to know Terry through the volunteer work of my wife and I down at the Techwood Center, and in doing so I’d witnessed a man of incredible caring for his fellow man; a Christian love I’d seen in very few people.
Now, Terry is gone to his heavenly reward. He’ll be sorely missed.
