Music, missions, and "Back to the Basics"

I had the wonderful privilege of attending my first Georgia Baptist Convention in Atlanta last week. It was a good experience. I was very impressed with the various ministry booths and how hard they seemed to have worked to get the displays ready for the convention. I enjoyed very much meeting the folks from the various agencies, etc.

The preaching and teaching focused on getting back to the basics of ministry. I was extremely blessed by all who preached and had a message to share. I was challenged within my heart and soul, that I need to do more for my Lord and Savior, especially reaching the lost. Missions and evangelism must be a priority as well as discipleship. We must be intentional about all three areas.

The music was phenomenal! Wow! The Shorter College Chorale really blessed my soul! Their passion for music and the love for Christ was truly evident on their faces. I am proud of our young people and the potential they have for ministry in the future. We are blessed with some very fantastic college kids preparing for ministry and work in the market place.

I had the opportunity to be at the dedication service for the new Missions and Ministry Center for Georgia Baptists. My heart was overwhelmed. I praise God for the visionary leadership of Dr. White and those who worked so diligently on the this phenomenal project. You can feel the almighty presence of God in the place. We have a great future as Georgia Baptists. Ministry and missions will happen as well as the training of those for leadership in our local churches. God has blessed us richly as Georgia Baptists.

A heartfelt thanks to all who helped make this convention a special one! To God be all the glory.
