Former Georgia Baptist pastor wins GOP nomination for congressional seat

Longtime Georgia Baptist pastor and conservative radio host Jody Hice won the Republican nomination for the 10th Congressional District seat July 22. The election paves the road for Hice's first term in Congress to represent the district heavily populated by his party.
An evening of inspiration honoring Roger Waters

On May 18 Roger Waters was recognized for 50 years of music ministry in the state of Georgia and 25 years as minister of music at Salem Baptist Church in McDonough. Waters, who retired on June 30, served Chapel Heights Baptist Church in Decatur and High Point Baptist Church in Covington prior to being called as minister of music at Salem in June of 1989.

Several years ago, I was asked to be the "Lottie Moon" International Missionary Board guest speaker for a church that I knew pretty well. I remembered this church fondly from my childhood years, because my church and this church weren't dissimilar at all and were close enough to each other to be able to have a nice little rivalry with our respective softball teams. It wasn't quite like going home for me, but rather more like going to visit an aunt and uncle who live out of state. This was a date on the calendar that I was really looking forward to attending.
