Year-to-date contributions to Southern Baptist national and international missions and ministries received by the SBC Executive Committee are $31,959,358.96, or 2% more than the year-to-date SBC Cooperative Program Allocation Budget projection, and are 6.35% above contributions received during the same time frame last year, according to a news release from SBC Executive Committee President and Chief Executive Officer Frank S. Page.
It has been my privilege to serve Georgia Baptists over the past 25 years through my role at the Georgia Baptist Foundation. I was hired in 1989 as the Director of Business and Accounting and promoted to Executive Director in 1991. My title was changed to President/CEO in 1992.
Paul Wade was almost 76 years old in 2006 when he accepted the call to serve as associate pastor of Mount Salem Baptist Church in Flowery Branch. For the last three of those years he has worked with pastor Clyde Self, who refers to Wade as a north Georgia saint.
Georgia Baptists are people of the "book," and the "book" has a host of instructions about evangelism, missions, and Christian education. Tucked within those same pages one also finds directives concerning elder care.
Christmas is all about an innocent child who was born over two thousand years ago into abject poverty to homeless refugees on the outskirts of a brutal empire. A host of angels appeared in the sky to impoverished shepherds singing, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
