BUFORD — Students and peers joined others at the LifeWay Christian Bookstore in Buford near the Mall of Georgia Jan. 26 to observe the recently-published works of Christian Studies professors John Tarwater and Larry McDonald.
In “Marriage as Covenant: Considering God’s Design at Creation and the Contemporary Moral Consequences,” Tarwater examines the nature and meaning of marriage as an order of creation, according to a press release from the school. In the book he goes further in considering the evidence in Genesis for believing that God made marriage a covenant relationship and set moral boundaries surrounding it. He further states that this helps address contemporary issues such as homosexual unions and the life-long nature of Christian marriage.
McDonald’s book, “The Merging of Theology and Spirituality,” is centered around the work of author and theologian Alister E. McGrath.
“Of all the prominent writers in our generation, I believe Dr. McGrath best exemplifies this sometimes elusive union of our hearts and of our minds in coming to God,” said McDonald. “In this life the most important issue for us is intimately knowing our Creator, and embracing Him for who He has truly revealed Himself to be.”
McDonald addressed how watershed moments can lead many to look for truth found only in accurate interpretations of the Bible.
“In this ‘post-9-11,’ uncertain age in which we live, we desperately need to intertwine our lives with God,” he added. “We must seek Him for who He really is, as He has revealed Himself most clearly in Scripture.”
