T.E. Glover, a deacon at Davisboro Baptist Church, died April 26. His son, Larry, is pastor of Davisboro Baptist.


James Travis J. T. Tyson, of Mount Airy, died April 18 at Habersham County Medical Center. He was 88.

Tyson served as pastor of Mt. Yonah in Cleveland, Harmony Hall in Gainesville, Habersham Mill in Habersham, Mt. Rachel in Dalton, Noonday in Marietta, First Baptist in Cleveland, Concord in Clermont, Shoal Creek in Cleveland, and Hills Crossing in Clarkesville from the mid 1950s until 2000. A graduate and trustee of Truett-McConnell College, Tyson also earned a degree from the University of Georgia. During his ministry he served in local associations and the state convention, including a stint as GBC vice president.

Tyson is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary, of Mt. Airy; son Travis, of Dalton; and daughters Myra Mitchell, of Dalton, and Nell Harris and Lynne Hise, both of Mt. Airy; ten grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at his last pastorate, Hills Crossing Baptist Church in Clarkesville, on April 20.
