Brenda J. Lott, a member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, received the Persistence Award from the American Christian Writers Association at the organization’s annual conference. Director Reg Forder presented Lott with a certificate at the Marietta Holiday Inn, where the event was held June 25-26.
In addition to writing, Lott hosts a small Christian Writers critique group in her home.
Gail Pallotta, also of Marietta, was given the Atlanta Writer of the Year Award. Pallotta’s Christian book, Now Is The Time, was published by Publish America in Frederick, Md., in January. In the fiction work for women the main character, Sarah Calottia, searches for the courage to face surgery and also finds strength, peace and the freedom to enjoy life.
New England Baptist Church in Trenton/Wildwood Association celebrated its 70th anniversary on July 18 with a special service and dinner.
Flat Creek Baptist Church in Fayetteville honored Inez Young for 65 years of teaching Sunday School July 11. Young, who has taught at Flat Creek for the past 49 years, was recognized with a plaque, gift certificates and artwork. In addition to teaching Sunday School, Young has also taught ladies Bible studies and participated in GA’s, VBS and been WMU director.
