Pinal County Cowboy Church in Casa Grande hosts a monthly team roping event as an outreach to the cowboy culture. It is planning a special roping coordinated with the Crossover emphasis in June. Georgia Baptists are encouraged to contact Gila Valley Director of Missions Tim Pruitt at (520) 518-1252 for more information on how to volunteer for this or other ministries. The Association is planning a variety of events, such as renting the town’s swimming pool for the day, and providing free admission and possibly food for those who attend.

Jay Pearce, worship pastor of Desert Sky Baptist Church in Casa Grande, says his congregation’s Crossover concert, tentatively set for June 11, will be held in the evening to avoid the summer heat which can reach 110 degres at mid-day. “Music crosses platforms and is a non-threatening environment to attract those who would not normally come to a church-related event,” he says. A recent Battle of the Bands event doubled previous attendance and attracted nearly 700 to hear the blend of secular and Christian music.
