Boston church seeks Georgia VBS volunteers

Your Baptist brothers and sisters in Massachusetts need your help this summer.

For 19 summers New Colony Baptist Church in Billerica, a Boston suburb, has sponsored a four-week ministry to help children in our community to fall in love with Jesus. Only two percent of New Englanders are evangelical Christians, so this is a considerable challenge.

More than 90 percent of the children from our community of 40,000 who attend this event, which we call Super Summer, do not attend our church.

Each week has a different theme including sports, arts and crafts, crazy games, and Vacation Bible School. The ministry begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at noon.

We had a Georgia Baptist church scheduled for July 16-20, with the VBS theme, but they have had to cancel. Therefore we are seeking a replacement team of a minimum of 15 people.

A team could be composed of middle and high school students and adults, college students or all adults. The team would need to provide all the materials and resources necessary for leading the week.

Our church has a full kitchen and fellowship hall for meal preparation as well as four showers for teams who want to sleep in our building.

Please consider joining us July 16-20 as we seek to once again share Godís love with our community through Super Summer. As a former Georgia Baptist pastor, I would welcome this opportunity to serve alongside some other Georgians.

If you are interested in coming or would like further information please call me at the church at (978) 663-4773 or on my cell at (978) 729-3607. Our address is 30 River Street, Billerica, MA 01821.
