LOS GATOS, CA — Self-described “Painter of Light” artist Thomas Kinkade, 54, died at his home on April 6 of what his family described as natural causes.
In his 25-year career he painted an estimated 1,000 images of cabin and nature scenes, gardens, cottages, lighthouses, seascapes, and classic Americana. The San Jose Mercury News, which broke the news of his death, said his paintings are estimated to hang in one of every 20 American homes.
Kinkade was also a writer and inspirational speaker who spoke from his Christian value system.
