The Royal Ambassadors organization was founded in 1908 by Womanís Missionary Union, a full two years prior to the Boy Scouts. It was transferred to the Memphis, TN-based Brotherhood Commission in the 1950s and was moved to the North American Mission Board in 1997.
WMU once again assumed leadership of the program in 2011. The Birmingham, AL-based auxiliary now coordinates the implementation of both boys and girls mission education programming. However, in Georgia RAs continues to be overseen by Menís Ministries.
Georgia Baptists wanting more information on how to start an RA chapter can contact Menís Ministries at (770) 936-5526 or by visiting www.gabaptist.org, click on Ministries, Menís Ministries, and Royal Ambassadors. More general information can also be found at http://www.wmu.com/index.php?q=children/royal-ambassadors/welcome-ras.
Churches desiring a missions education group for older boys in grades 7-12 can ask for information on Challengers on the same website.
