Georgia Baptist WMU Executive Director/Treasurer Beth Ann Williams speaks to a group at Head of Tennessee Baptist Church in Dillard as Edith Burney, a member of the church and retired missionary to Nigeria, looks on.

As an aside to the Fall meeting of the Executive Board of Georgia Baptist WMU/WEM at Camp Pinnacle, several leaders visited Head of Tennessee Baptist Church, where retired overseas missionary Edith Burney is a member, on Oct. 9.

Burney is a native of Rabun County who served alongside her husband Bob, now deceased, in Nigeria for almost 30 years. She continues to be involved in all levels of WMU, including serving as her church’s director and as coordinator of Head of Tennessee’s children’s missions groups. She is also chairman of the church’s evangelism committee.

Making the visit to Head of Tennessee were Beth Ann Williams, Georgia Baptist WMU executive director/treasurer; Jackie Hardy, recently-elected president of Georgia Baptist WMU; Gail Silver, Georgia Baptist WMU Foundation consultant; and David George, president of the WMU Foundation of the SBC in Birmingham, AL. The visit was Williams’ first official one to a GBC church in her role since being named Georgia WMU’s leader last month.
